Terms of Service

SUMU Open Banking Provider · Open Banking · Oman

Last updated: February 2025

1. Acceptance

By signing up for a SUMU merchant account, or by clicking “I consent” or “Continue” on any consent screen (payment, account information, subscription, or payroll), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use our services or provide consent.

2. What SUMU Open Banking Provider Does

SUMU acts as a Third Party Provider (Open Banking Provider) in open banking. We enable:

  • Payment initiation (PIS): One-off payments from your bank account to a merchant or beneficiary when you give consent.
  • Account information (AIS): Read-only access to your account list, balances, and transactions when you give consent.
  • Recurring / subscription payments: Mandates for repeated charges (e.g. monthly) when you consent to a subscription.
  • Payroll: Batch payments (e.g. salary runs) when you consent as payer or as part of an employer flow.

We do not hold your bank login credentials. You authorise access at your bank’s site; your bank never shares your password with SUMU.

3. Consent

Each time you use a consent screen (PIS, AIS, subscription, or payroll), you are consenting to the specific action described on that screen. Consent is limited to that action and, where stated, to the scope and duration described (e.g. single payment, single payroll batch, or recurring mandate). You can revoke consent via your bank or, where applicable, through SUMU or the merchant.

4. Signing Up (Merchants)

To use SUMU as a merchant (to accept payments or request account information), you must complete signup and any onboarding we require. You agree to provide accurate contact and business details and to keep them up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms or misuse the service.

5. Acceptable Use

You must use SUMU only for lawful purposes and in line with open banking and applicable law. You must not use our services to defraud, launder money, or harm others. Merchants must not request consents or initiate payments in a misleading way or beyond what the user has consented to.

6. Liability

SUMU provides the Open Banking Provider infrastructure. We are not responsible for the actions of your bank, merchants, or other third parties. Our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

7. Changes

We may update these terms. We will post the updated version on this page and indicate the last updated date. Continued use of our services or consent flows after changes constitutes acceptance. For material changes we may notify you by email or through the portal where appropriate.

8. Contact

For questions about these terms: contact SUMU support (e.g. via the merchant portal or the contact details published on our site).
